Rumination Recovery Balm

When your mind spirals, your body tightens. Warm it, work the knots, and let the loop leave through your hands.

  • Eases tension in mind and muscles
  • Cooling warmth. No sting, no irritation
  • Chaga and agarikon: two adaptogens you usually meet as supplements
  • Capsicum warms, menthol cools. The contrast is part of how it works
$28free US shipping

Last of this batch, making room for what’s next.

Any three formulas go for $75 — same or mixed.

The contrast is the dose.

Warmth first, from capsicum. Then menthol's cool. Your attention follows the sensation, and for that minute the loop has nothing to hold onto.

Work it into wherever the overthinking sits. Jaw, neck, shoulders, lower back.

The balm is semi-solid on purpose. It melts at body heat, so the warming starts with your own hands.

Somatic sensory ritual

Your body holds onto what your mind won't let go.

Tension lives in the nervous system. This balm is your cue to interrupt the loop and exhale what's been stuck.

Why we made Recovery Balm

  1. The loop

Overthinking, at its most intense, has a name: spiraling.

In January 2023 we sat down with our advisors and defined rumination for ourselves: constant overthinking that becomes all-consuming. The session notes list where it lands. Sleep. Digestion. Jaw. Shoulders. Muscle tension. And one line that stuck: we are trying to hold it all together.

  2. The hypothesis

Could sensation interrupt what thinking can't?

You might think you need to out-think the loop. What you actually need is something else to feel. Capsicum warms, menthol cools, and the contrast pulls attention out of the spiral and into the body. That interruption is the product.

  3. The formula

A recovery balm, built like a supplement.

Turmeric root stem cells for inflammation. Chaga and agarikon, two adaptogenic mushrooms most people first meet as supplements, for stress response. Shea and avocado so it comforts the skin it sits on. Semi-solid, so your own body heat does the melting.

Thirty months, in the making

From first worksheet to launch. Every date here is on the record.

  1. 2022

    A worksheet before a formula

The first Rumination worksheet is drafted in May. Development starts before the product has a shape.

  2. 2023

    The deep dive

In January the advisory board and the Junior Advisory Board sit for a mental-health deep dive on rumination: Dr. Byron Young, Dr. Jeshana Avent-Johnson, and Lacey, a Paralympian and record-holding long jumper with a master's in sport and performance psychology. Compatibility testing wraps in November.

  3. 2024

    Launched while resting

The balm ships October 24, inside the brand's public Rest Mode. The founder built it alongside her own burnout, and the launch event five days later was a coffee-shop evening in Inglewood with Dr. Young.

Sip & Sonder, Inglewood. The launch evening, on the record.
  4. 2026

    The final production run

The original four, made one final time. Every formula $28, shipping free.

The advisory board

A board before a bottle.

No invented numbers. Our clinical stats stay held until they’re independently signed off. What we can show: the board that built this before it had a bottle, every one of them by name.

How to use.

  1. Knead the tube like a stress ball when the tension builds.

  2. Apply wherever you're tight or sore. Neck, shoulders, wherever stress sits.

  3. Feel it melt as you massage. Let the sensations signal release.

I’ve been using it for about a week now and it is safe to say I LOVE IT.

I love to put it on at the end of the night or when I have really bad muscle pain. This had helped with muscle AND bone pain, reliving my hip and back pain along with my thigh and calf pain.

Frequently asked.

Why Rumination Recovery Balm?
Overthinking isn't a workout, but your body acts like it was one. The loop settles into your shoulders, neck and jaw. This balm is the cue to interrupt it, melting tension and easing the aches overthinking leaves behind.
Can I use it on my face?
Tested for the body. If you're eyeing your face, check with your dermatologist first.
How often can I use it?
Gentle enough for daily, even repetitive, use. Patch test first.
It seems more liquid than balm. Normal?
Yes. Rich oils and butters loosen in warmer temps. Pop it in the fridge cap-side up to firm.
Is this really the final production run?
Yes. The original four, made one final time. When it sells through we won't restock, and we won't count it down; the page will just say sold out. Until then, every formula is $28, whatever it carried before.
